Bill Steen
Bill Steen is the co-founder, with wife Athena, of The Canelo Project, a small non-profit organization dedicated to Connecting People, Culture and Nature in ways that weave beauty, wholeness and functionality into fabric of human life.
He has taught, led tours and worked extensively in Mexico, Europe and the United States incorporating imaginative, ephemeral art projects that include the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the Denver Art Museum, the Arizona State University Art Museum and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
He also works as a professional photographer and has co-authored several books along with his wife Athena, like the bestsellers The Straw Bale House, Built by Hand, The Handcrafted Life of Don Juan Morales. In recent years he was worked extensively documenting and photographing the culture, food and lifestyle of rural Sonora.
